title: CMR consignment notes
description: How a Planner enters consignment details, previews and issues CMR notes for a calculated Load Plan, voids a note, and shares it by link. Enterprise plan only.
---

A CMR consignment note is the transport document for international road freight. Cargo Marshal fills it from your Project and a calculated Load Plan, prints it on plain A4, and gives each note its own number and its own link.

> **Enterprise plan**
>
> CMR notes are part of the Enterprise plan. Without it, the menu entry and the
> **Consignment details** entry are missing. If your plan changes after you
> issued notes, you keep them. See [After a plan change](#after-a-plan-change).

## One note per truck and stop

Cargo Marshal makes one note for each Unit and each Stop that holds cargo. A Unit with cargo for Stop 1, Stop 2, and the main consignee gets three notes. Cargo Lines without a Stop go to the **main consignee**, the party who takes the rest.

## Enter the consignment details

1. Open the Project and open the **More cargo actions** menu (**⋯**) in the Cargo toolbar and choose **Consignment details**.
2. On **Sender**, enter the sender. The name starts from the Project's customer. The two stay separate afterwards.
3. On **Taking over**, keep **Same as the sender's address** or enter another place.
4. On **Receivers**, enter a consignee and a delivery place for each Stop and for the main consignee.
5. On **Instructions**, enter defaults such as customs instructions, documents attached, and payment terms.
6. On **Goods**, give each Cargo Line a description for the note, a package type, marks and numbers, and optionally an HS code and a UN number. A blank description uses the Cargo Line name.
7. Choose **Save details**.

Everything is optional until you issue a note. Editing these details never marks a Load Plan as out of date, because they do not affect how the cargo is loaded.

## Preview and issue

1. Calculate the Load Plan.
2. Open **Share & export** and choose **CMR notes…**.
3. Read the list. Each row shows a Unit and a Stop, and names what is still missing. Enter the missing details under **Consignment details** in the **More cargo actions** menu and come back.
4. Choose **Preview draft** to download a PDF with a DRAFT stamp. A preview creates no number and stores nothing.
5. Enter the date of taking over and where the notes are made out. Optionally enter the carrier, the plates per Unit, and instructions.
6. Choose **Issue**.

Each issued note gets the next number of your organization, in the form `CMR-2026-000017`. The counter restarts each year, and the year is the one of the made-out date. An issued note never changes. Choose **Download PDF** on its row at any time.

The gross weight is the cargo weight from the Load Plan. It does not include packaging or pallet weight. To correct it, enter the gross weight on the Cargo Line.

## After a recalculation

If you change cargo or details and calculate again, issued notes stay as they were. Their row shows **Outdated**. Choose **Re-issue** to replace it. The old note is voided and the new one gets a new number. While the Load Plan still needs a recalculation, the row shows **Recalculate first** instead.

All notes of one Unit carry the same date of taking over, made-out place and date, carrier, plates, and instructions. If you issue the rest of a Unit with other details, the dialog asks before it replaces the Unit's issued notes. Choose **Void and re-issue** to replace them.

## Void a note

To correct an issued note, void it and issue a new one.

1. Choose **Void** on the note's row.
2. Enter a reason and confirm.

A voided note stays on record with a VOID stamp. Its number is never used again. You can still download it.

## Share a note

Choose **Copy link** on a note to give a driver or a consignee a public page with that one note and its PDF. No account is needed. Choose the expiry first: no expiry, 7 days, or 30 days.

- The link is shown once, when you create it, and it is copied for you.
- **New link** replaces the current link. The old address stops working at once.
- **Revoke link** ends the link.
- A voided note is still readable through its link. The page shows a VOID banner, so the holder sees that the note no longer counts.
- A note that replaces a voided one does not inherit the old link. Copy a new link for it.
- Deleting the Project or the Load Plan ends the links of its notes. The notes stay on record.

The public page shows the note and your organization's name and logo. It never shows the Project, other notes, or your other data.

## After a plan change

When your organization leaves the Enterprise plan, issued notes stay yours. You can still list them, download them, void them, and revoke their links. You cannot preview, issue, or share. Public links stop working while the plan lacks CMR notes and return when it comes back.
